The role: 

  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will lead and manage a high-quality library and archive service at Central Library, ensuring excellence in customer experience and public engagement
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will oversee service development initiatives and contribute to service-wide projects that align with corporate and central government priorities
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will manage budgets effectively, ensuring financial accountability and best value across designated service areas
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will line manages and support staff teams, including recruitment, performance management, training, and wellbeing
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will promote and develop the service internally and externally, ensuring alignment with national standards and continuous improvement
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will Foster collaborative partnerships with individuals, groups, and organisations to maximise library resource use
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will ensure effective facilities management of Central Library, including security, maintenance, and cleanliness
  • The Central Library and Archives Manager will represent the service at meetings and deputise for the Libraries Strategy and Improvement Manager when required
