The Role: 

  • A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join Liverpool City Council’s Employment and Skill’s Team. The role of English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Co-ordinator is an exciting development that will test and develop our approach to how we provide and co-ordinate ESOL language learning and advice to Liverpool residents
  • The role is an opportunity to join our well-established Employment and Skills Team and Refugee Migration Service to test, co-ordinate and evaluate a model for a Liverpool ESOL Hub/ Advice Service for residents for whom English is not their first language
  • The team’s focus is on driving the Council’s skills employment agenda to create a welcoming city that provides skills, learning and employment support to help residents progress into work. The role is a varied one which includes: working to bring internal and external partners together; creating and coordinating the project; collaborating with practitioners and partners to manage, test and evaluate ESOL assessment/information and advice sessions across the city that avoids duplication
  • For the role of English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Co-ordinator we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us and help continue and broaden our work to enable people to live in safe cohesive communities; understand their rights and responsibilities; progress in learning and employment, benefit from well-functioning services and have the opportunity to contribute their voice to shaping and delivering such services
  • As the ESOL Co-ordinator you will test, develop and co-ordinate a Liverpool ESOL HUB/Advice Service in partnership with key ESOL providers and stakeholders across the city.  You will be part of our employment and skills team and work closely with the wider Refugee and Migration Service.  You will bring to the role demonstrable experience of working with partners to deliver positive results for refugees and migrants

This role is fixed term for the purpose of testing and developing the model and will end on 31 March 2026.
