The Role: 

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced individuals to undertake the role of Assessment & Prevention Officer in the Neighbourhoods and Housing Directorate. These posts will work closely with Children’s Social Care to prevent care experienced young people and 16-17yr olds from experiencing homelessness
  • As an Assessment & Prevention Officer you will work closely with internal partners, the post holders will support Children’s Social Care to achieve the right outcomes for young people and ensure they have access to a safe and stable home, working closely with internal and external partners to embed a trauma informed and prevention focussed service for young people
  • Applications for the Assessment & Prevention Officer are invited from individuals who have relevant experience working within Children’s Social Care and/or Homelessness sector and are passionate and self-driven to ensure that the housing needs of young people are explored at the first available opportunity and that thorough assessments and plans that meet the needs of individuals are put in place
  • This is a hybrid role within Housing Solutions with an office base in the Cunard Building and some work in community and outreach settings. There is also the opportunity to work from home for part of the working week as needed

This role is fixed term for 12 months from start date to take part in the Emergency Accommodation Reduction Pilot reducing households entering and residing in B&B accommodation.
