The Role:
The Merseyside and Isle of Man Child Death Overview panel are looking for an Independent Chair to ensure that the CDOP Panel effectively fulfils their statutory functions as set out in Working Together 2023 and the supporting Child Death Review statutory and operational guidance (2018) and any subsequent updates.
The Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) in England is a statutory body responsible for reviewing all deaths of children from birth up to 18 years of age. The CDOP conducts a comprehensive analysis of each child’s death to understand the reasons behind it and to identify any patterns or trends that could inform strategies to prevent future deaths.
The Merseyside and Isle of Man panel is accountable to 5 local authorities (Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral), alongside Isle of Man plus NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board, and it operates within a framework set out by the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education.
It is essential the Chair must possess evidence of working knowledge and successful oversight of child death review processes or other complex processes. Have excellent communication and influencing skills, along with a strong track record of strategic leadership, the ability to chair complex multi-agency discussions and a sound approach to ensuring effective governance.
The successful candidate will be supported by the ICB Director of Nursing and Care and Directors of Public Health and will join a friendly supportive team who are keen to deliver a contemporary child death review service.
This post is initially for a 12 month period, with the possibility of a further 12 month extension; based on 13 days work at £550 per day. There is, however, the potential for some additional days of work as and when required by panel, through prior advanced arrangement.
- Pay scheme: Sessional rate
- Salary: £275 per 4 hour session (£550 per 8 hour day)
- Working pattern: Part-time 52 sessions per year ( 26 days per year) All costs are exclusive of VAT/ NI/ Pension contributions.
- Merseyside & IOM:26 sessions per year ( 13 days per year)
- This is a Contract for Service post, and as such does not attract employment rights.
