The role:
Vacancies have arisen for full time Library and Information Assistants, based in Central Library or in one of our Community Libraries.
The post holders will be required to provide access to information and learning for the local community. We’re looking for outstanding employees who have excellent customer care and communication skills, a flexible approach to work, competency with IT, and an interest in books and information retrieval.
The post holders will be required to work a combination of early shifts (8:45am-5pm) and late shifts (12pm-8pm, 9:45am-6pm or 9:45-5pm). They will also be required to work one in two Saturdays (8:45am-5pm or 9:45am-4pm). Shifts will be dependent on location and allowances will be paid where applicable.
The main duties of the posts:
To offer advice and guidance to customers on the use of library stock. This can also include assisting with information enquiries
- To use ICT to assist customers in accessing library services, and to help promote and use digital services
- To undertake cash handling
- To work flexibly across the library service
- To undertake further training, as and when required
