The Role:
- An exciting opportunity has arisen within Liverpool Children and Young People’s Services as we integrate our SEND and Alternative Provision services, enabling a holistic understanding of and response to children and young people’s needs
- As an Occupational Therapist within the Behaviour Intervention Team, you will play an integral part in the team by providing advice and support on how occupational therapy, in particular sensory processing and motor-coordination, relates to pupil behaviour and occupational performance.
- As an Occupational Therapist you will give specific occupational therapy recommendations and strategies at both whole school and pupil specific level that will support emotional regulation and positive engagement, helping to reduce incidents of challenging behaviour and the number of suspensions and exclusions. You will promote sensory inclusive environments in schools and inclusive, trauma-informed approaches to behaviour.
- As an Occupational Therapist and a key player in this service area, you will work with other specialists across the SEND Support Services. Reporting directly to the Behaviour Intervention Team Operational Lead, you will contribute significantly to our mission of providing quality education to every child and young person, irrespective of their background or challenges they may face and will work with other managers across the team to ensure effective planning and support is in place.
This post is Part Time 21 hours per week (across three flexible days) and this post is fixed-term for 12 months in order to carry out specific and additional specialist activities linked to targeted funding
