Liverpool City Council Children and Young People’s Service is on an exciting journey and the recently created Children’s Workforce Academy is at the forefront of driving high quality practice across the holistic children’s practice system.  

The Practice Development Officer role is part of our ongoing commitment to the development of the Children’s Workforce Academy in implementing its Operating Model to support the practice system to deliver impact and focused outcomes for our children, young people and their networks via building a sustainable foundation of support to our holistic workforce.  This is a great opportunity to be part of an aspirational and forward-thinking Portfolio with a priority of ensuring the workforce are equipped with the skills, experience and knowledge to promote and enable change. 

The Role: 

Are you an experienced Social Worker who has mentored and supported students and newly qualified social workers previously? Are you looking for a role where you can use your skills and experience to create sustained improvements for our workforce? 

  • In the role of Practice Development Officer, you will be an experienced and registered children’s social worker, who is a practice educator or working towards the qualification
  • In this key learning and development role as Practice Development Officer, you will develop and deliver a clear and robust learner’s programme to support the Continuous Professional Development of all our social care workforce through bespoke programmes, i.e. AYSE, Apprenticeships, Step-ups, Practice Educators
  • As a Practice Development Officer, you will be confident in designing and delivering comprehensive high-quality training, learning and development sessions, applying your wealth of knowledge of children’s legislation, case management, policies, frameworks and procedures
  • You will support the implementation of several faculties as Practice Development Officer within the Children’s Workforce Academy to support the whole children’s workforce in accordance with the Children’s Workforce Academy Operating Model and the Children’s Workforce Strategy 
  • The role of Practice Development Officer involves being an advocate of promoting good practice across the organisation, undertaking audits and support our Quality Assurance Service. You will have the drive and passion to influence and motivate workforce in practice improvement
