Salary – £38,223 - £43,421

The Role

This role is fixed term for the purpose to meet the increase in demand of housing inspections across the various refugee and migration strands.

The team Private Sector Housing Team is a forward-thinking team with a successful track record of enforcing a wide range of legislative requirements in the area of private sector housing. This includes the investigation of complaints of poor housing conditions and undertaking inspections of private sector housing. The role will work in partnership with the Council’s Refugee and Migration team- known as Our Liverpool- to enforce legislative requirements in relation to asylum and migrant properties, to ensure the city is welcoming and safe for people seeking sanctuary.

  • The role is to undertake routine planned and reactive inspections and visits to enforce relevant housing legislation.
  • To prepare all statutory enforcement notices, legal documents and other correspondence. 
  • To investigate, assess and then instigate enforcement action for failure to comply with statutory notices or otherwise.
  • To assist in the preparation of legal bundles including inspections, reports, evidence gathering, interviews, witness statements.
  • To represent the authority at courts and tribunals and enquiries.
