Liverpool is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making our city a better place. We've got ambitious targets to meet by 2025 and we need people who are driven, dynamic and ready to deliver the very best for our communities.   Public service is more important than ever, and this role represents a real opportunity to make a difference to our communities by transforming the way we work and placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.

Working at Liverpool City Council provides an opportunity to contribute to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents. Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.

  • As a Fostering Social Worker, your role will be to complete SGO / family and friends fostering assessments for court and to present the fostering assessments at the fostering panel
  • As a Social Worker, you will carry out viability assessments and SGO/family and friends assessments to determine the suitability of family members/friends who are potentially capable of taking on the responsibility of caring for our Liverpool children
  • You will hold professional responsibility for a caseload of kinship assessments, working within set timescales and court deadlines whilst ensuring the highest quality assessments.
  • Our Fostering Social Workers need to be able to demonstrate that they can work proactively with the allocated children’s social workers and partner agencies in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for our Liverpool children
  • We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated practitioners, who consider themselves organised and resilient, who can effectively balance the demands of completing a number of different assessments simultaneously. The team has a strong and supportive management structure
